At Rinew Legal, your matter is handled by a carefully structured team of qualified professionals working under clear supervision arrangements. We believe it's important that you understand who may be involved in your case, what their role is, and how responsibility and oversight are maintained at every stage. This page explains the different levels of expertise within out team, the type of work each role undertakes, and the supervision framework we use to ensure high standards of service, regulatory compliance and consistent, high-quality advice for every client.
Director
A qualified legal professional with responsibility for supervising legal work within their practice area and overseeing the conduct of client matters.
Typical Tasks
- Managing their own caseload and acting as the main point of contact on complex or high-value matters
- Supervising Solicitors, Trainees, Apprentices, and HR Consultants within their team
- Reviewing and signing off legal advice, correspondence, and key documents
- Providing strategic guidance and ensuring matters are handled efficiently and proportionately
- Holding overall responsibility for compliance and standards of service
Supervision Level
Directors supervise all members of their team and hold ultimate responsibility for the conduct of your matter.
Qualifications
Directors are either Solicitors regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or Chartered Legal Executives regulated by CILEX.
Solicitor
A fully qualified Solicitor who managers their own caseload and provides legal advice directly to clients, with oversight from a Director where required.
Typical Tasks
- Having full conduct of client matters from instruction through to conclusion
- Providing legal advice and practical guidance tailored to the clients situation
- Drafting and issuing correspondence, documents, and legal advice
- Communicating directly with clients and attending meetings independently where appropriate
- Working within their specialist area of law to deliver focused, expert support
Supervision Level
All Solicitors are supervised by a Director. Solicitors with up to three years' post-qualification experience receive closer supervisory oversight.
Qualifications
Solicitors are admitted as Solicitors or England and Wales and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Trainee Solicitor
A Trainee Solicitor completing a recognised training contract as part of the route to qualification as a Solicitor.
Typical Tasks
- Assisting with and progressing client matters under supervision
- Drafting legal documents, advice, and correspondence for review
- Communicating directly with clients and attending meetings independently where appropriate, under the supervision of a Solicitor or Director
- Attending meetings and calls, sometimes independently where appropriate
- Developing practical legal skills within their specialist area
Supervision Level
All work carried out by Trainee Solicitors is reviewed and supervised by a qualified Solicitor or Director.
Qualifications
Trainee Solicitors are working towards qualification as a Solicitor of England and Wales.
HR Consultant
A specialist in HR and people management who supports clients and the legal team on employment-related matters. HR Consultants are not legally qualified but bring practical expertise in workplace processes and employee relations.
Typical Tasks
- Supporting clients with HR-related issues alongside the legal team
- Drafting HR documentation and correspondence for review
- Communicating directly with clients and attending meetings independently where appropriate, under the supervision of a Solicitor or Director
- Advising on best practice workplace processes and employee relations
- Working closely with Solicitors to ensure a joined-up, compliant approach
Supervision Level
HR Consultants work under the supervision of a Solicitor or Director and do not provide legal advice independently. All work is reviewed before being finalised.
Qualifications
HR Consultants hold appropriate professional HR qualifications and experience relevant to their role and work under the supervision of a Solicitor or Director.
Apprentice Solicitor
A Solicitor Apprentice completing a recognised solicitor apprenticeship, combining practical legal work with formal training.
Typical Tasks
- Supporting client matters under close supervision
- Drafting documents and correspondence for review before issue
- Communicating directly with clients as part of the legal team
- Assisting Solicitors and Directors with case preparation and progression
- Building legal knowledge and experience alongside formal study
Supervision Level
All work is reviewed and supervised by a qualified Solicitor or Director. Apprentice Solicitors do not attend client meetings independently.
Qualifications
Apprentice Solicitors are working towards qualification as a Solicitor of England and Wales via the solicitor apprenticeship route.
