MEET THE TEAM: GABRIELLA JOBLING

Our meet the team series gives us a chance to show the humans behind Rinew Legal. We stop, take a moment, and chat about life beyond law.

This week we sat down with Gabriella Jobling to discuss favourite lunch spots, go-to office snacks and hobbies outside of the office!

WHEN DID YOU FIRST KNOW YOU WANTED TO BECOME A SOLICITOR?

I have always known I have wanted to be a Solicitor from a young age, there was never any doubt in my mind that this is wanted I wanted to do.

I remember in primary school being asked what we want to do when we grow up and that has always been my answer.

I feel quite lucky that I have always known that becoming a Solicitor is what I have wanted to do. It has kept me very motivated and driven.

WAS THERE ANOTHER CAREER THAT YOU EVER FANCIED DOING BEFORE YOU BEGAN YOUR JOURNEY IN EMPLOYMENT LAW?

Not in terms of another career but I have always thought criminal law was very interesting. When I was younger, I took part in a fake trial with school where we attended the magistrates court and I got to take the role as the prosecution which was a lot of fun.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SONG TO PLAY ON THE OFFICE SPEAKER?

I have so many but the top two would probably be House on Fire by Mimi Webb and If I Can Dream by Elvis Presley.

WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO LUNCH SPOT IN LEEDS?

As I have only just started working in the City Centre, I have so many places I need to try out, but so far the two best places I have had lunch at are La Botega Milanese and IF.

WHAT’S THE FIRST THING YOU WOULD BUY IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY?

This would probably be a toss-up between a house or a 5* holiday for all my family members flying first class, going to the best hotels, going on boat trips, trying the best restaurants, and making the most amazing memories for a month if not longer.

WHAT OTHER ERA WOULD YOU LIVE IN IF YOU COULD?

This is a very easy question as my sisters, my mum and I love any music from the 50’s and will usually be found in our kitchen belting out any Elvis Presley, song at the top of our lungs. My microphone of choice is usually a broomstick.

ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR AN EVENING PERSON?

Normally my answer would be an evening person as I would usually be up late tidying my room or watching films, and no one could speak to me in the morning until I had been awake for at least an hour and had some form of caffeine. However, more recently I have been falling asleep as soon as I put a film on and waking up earlier and being less cranky which is a new experience for my family.

IF YOU COULD ONLY HAVE 3 APPS ON YOUR PHONE, WHICH WOULD YOU PICK AND WHY?

My camera so I could still take photos with family and friends etc to be able to look back at them. The telephone app so I could still call people and maps as I even though I have lived in Leeds my whole life I still get lost and there are areas I would have absolutely no idea how to get to.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SNACK TO HAVE IN THE OFFICE?

Crisps either Quavers or Walkers Salt and Vinegar – if I could have a life time supply of both I would be very happy.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?

I like trying new dishes to cook or perfecting the ones I can already cook well; I would like to be as good a cook as my grandma.

I like spending time with my dog and taking him on walks but only when it’s not raining as he will refuse to go outside and also walks around puddles.

I have recently started swimming as a way to relax after work which I love and will be doing a lot more of.

Join us again next month as we’ll be catching up with Paralegal, Dani Davidson. In the meantime, if you have any questions for any of the team then please contact us at hello@rinewlegal.co.uk or visit our website to find out more.
